This year’s
state project is “Bringing Hope to Those Who Sacrifice for Our Freedom.”
The project will raise awareness of the Fisher Houses at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and monies raised will go toward
the operational fees for the house.
The Fisher
House Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide an affordable on-base refuge close to medical centers
for patients and their families. The Fisher Houses we are supporting are compassionate care facilities located on Wright-Patterson
AFB that within walking distance to the Wright Patterson Medical Center. These houses provide a comfortable place to stay,
serving veterans, active-duty patients and families from all branches of the military receiving active treatment at the Medical
Center.
The houses
provide a safe and comfortable Home-Away-From-Home for families in need. The
houses also provide an atmosphere of hope and support for families who can lean on one another in their time of need.
The Wright-Patterson
Medical Center is the Air Force’s second largest medical center and offers many specialty clinics. There is no charge
for a family to stay at the Fisher Houses and the Foundation receives no federal funding, running solely on donations. The
approximate cost for one day’s stay at the Fisher House is $42 per room. The goal of the project is to raise enough
funds for 76 days of compassionate care at the Wright-Patterson Fisher Houses in honor of the Ohio State Society’s 76th
anniversary.
We are
selling t-shirts, pins, and first aid kits to raise funds for this worthy cause. We are promoting the Fisher House Foundation’s
work by informing our members and other groups of the Foundation’s efforts to support our military and their families.
